Embedded Firmware Engineer

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will have significant impact on our multidisciplinary R&D projects, grow with us as we venture into new technologies, and contribute to the connected devices line of products throughout both discovery and delivery. You will design, develop, debug, and optimize robust, production-ready firmware for resource-constrained, low-power IoT devices.
The role is a full-time temporary contract position signed off for 2 years offering hybrid working (2 days onsite and 3 days from home). Our client offers an hourly rate of £31.54 - £53.64 per hour depending on experience, plus 25 days holiday.
Duties:
The responsibilities will include designing, developing, debugging, and optimizing embedded firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices; integrating GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, and hardware peripherals; Developing within an RTOS environment; and delivering reliable, maintainable, production-ready code in collaboration with multidisciplinary product and platform teams in the UK, Israel and California, USA.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
The position requires strong practical embedded engineering capability, sound technical judgement, and the ability to work effectively with software, hardware, systems, integration, and test stakeholders.
* Embedded software: Approximately five years of professional experience developing embedded systems in C/C++.
* Microcontrollers: Strong hands-on experience with STM microcontrollers, specifically STM32.
* Low-power systems: Proven experience developing ultra-low-power, battery-operated devices.
* GNSS and connectivity: Experience integrating GNSS modules and implementing or troubleshooting LoRa or LoRaWAN communications.
* Hardware interfaces: Deep understanding of I2C, SPI, ADC, DAC, PWM, and external EEPROM.
* RTOS: Professional experience with an RTOS, preferably FreeRTOS.
* Development tools: Proficiency with VS Code and/or STM32CubeIDE.
* Working style: Self-motivated, pragmatic, organized, and able to work autonomously while communicating progress and blockers clearly.
Qualifications & Education:

* Approximately five years of embedded software engineering experience using C/C++.

As System Integration engineer you will create and define physical setups, test plans and own test execution and debug of the device, while working inside a demanding and diverse eco system.
Position requires the ability to develop test plans, understand embedded FW and electronics terms and constraints and lead technical investigations of complex system issues as well as creative problem solving and hands on work.
Responsibilities include:
* Detailed definitions of test plans and test cases.
* Detailed definitions of testing setups and hands-on creation of such.
* Manual test execution and reporting.
* Hands-on debug of complex system focusing on embedded and electronics aspects, as a component of the full solution.
The work will require collaboration with teams located in California USA and in Israel.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
The position requires multidisciplinary understanding, ability to quickly grasp new technological aspects as well as constraints , the capability to work in a multi-site matrix organization and working closely in a Product and Platform team with system engineers, embedded software developers, HW engineers, Other integration Engineers as well as backend and front-end teams.

* Ability to understand IoT complex systems including RF communication and HW interfaces.
* Experience with troubleshooting using standard test equipment
* Excellent technical comprehension when approaching new terms and concepts.
* Hands-on approach to tests definition, setup ramp-up and failure debug.
