PhD Nutrition is a premium, active-nutrition brand for the active lifestyle community wanting intelligent nutrition to help them achieve their goals. It’s an exciting time for PhD Nutrition as 2025 will kick off an entirely new line up of brand ambassadors, from hybrid athletes to qualified sports nutritionists.

The two brands sell through the and digital platforms, third-party online marketplaces including Amazon, as well as extensive domestic and international retail distribution.

In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time and most importantly, allowing Science In Sport to lead the way for quality standards.

Science In Sport is the nutrition partner to globally recognised elite teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Saracens Rugby, British Triathlon, Aquatics GB, British Cycling, England Netball and Loughborough Sports. The Role

  • Contract: 12-month Fixed-term contract

  • Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm

  • Location: Blackburn

Your 4 most important responsibilities

  1. Build and maintain Adobe Commerce storefronts – Develop responsive, high-quality themes, templates, and UI components using Adobe Commerce’s frontend framework.

  2. Translate designs into functional interfaces – Implement UX/UI designs, wireframes, and prototypes into clean, efficient frontend code.

  3. Optimise site performance and user experience – Deliver fast page loads, strong Core Web Vitals, accessibility compliance, and a consistent cross-device experience.

  4. Troubleshoot, enhance, and support the storefront – Resolve frontend issues, improve existing components, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support smooth releases.

What you are responsible for delivering

  • A polished, performant Adobe Commerce storefront that works across browsers and devices.

  • Clean, scalable frontend code that aligns with Adobe Commerce best practices.

  • Reliable delivery of features, enhancements, and fixes within sprint timelines.

  • Proper integration and styling of Adobe Commerce extensions and custom modules.

  • Reduced frontend defects through proactive testing, performance tuning, and peer collaboration.

  • Transparent communication around progress, blockers, and technical decisions.

Technical Skills

  • Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, LESS/SASS, JavaScript, and jQuery.

  • Thorough understanding of Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) theme structure, layout XML, PHTML, and Knockout.js.

  • Hands-on experience with UI Components and Adobe Commerce’s rendering architecture.

  • Proficiency with Git, build tools (Webpack/Gulp/Grunt), and browser debugging.

  • Ability to improve frontend performance, SEO, and accessibility.

Experience and mindset that will enable you to do well in this role

  • 2-5+ years of experience working with Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) frontend development.

  • Strong understanding of eCommerce UX principles and customer behaviour.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on performance and quality.

  • Eagerness to learn, iterate, and stay current with Adobe Commerce updates.

  • Collaborative, solution-focused attitude with openness to feedback.

  • Practical problem solver – able to break down issues and deliver clear solutions.

  • Experience working with an agency (desirable)
