The role:

A very exciting opportunity to come in as an experienced web developer, working in a small team with a lot of progression potential. The individual will need to be comfortable with the pressures of being client facing, possibly overseeing team members and having a great understanding of the technical aspects associated with web development. The individual would be a key player in the web team with this being small at current, but with the view to managing a team and responsible for developing the services along with supporting improving the efficiency.

Job Purpose:

To manage web projects and be client facing along with being involved in the design, build, and maintenance of client websites for corporate clients in ranging industries. Working with colleagues and clients to understand website requirements and client needs. Writing, testing, and debugging code and applications. Maintaining a knowledge of fundamental web programming languages and monitoring website analytics.

Job Duties:

Liaise with clients and colleagues to determine website needs. Following up with regular conversations and updates.

Build websites to client specifications by writing code, designing pages and widgets, and incorporating graphics and media elements.

Determine the best technologies, development languages, design libraries, plug-ins and applications to provide websites with required features and functionality.

Test websites across multiple browsers and devices; debugging as necessary

Maintain fluency in one or more programming languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.

Utilisation of designer, CMS, and ecommerce tools. For example, Webflow, WordPress and WooCommerce.

Regularly checking in with clients to assess their satisfaction and determine necessary updates or website repairs.

Maintain websites by checking for errors, broken links, updating software/plugins and hacking attempts/malware.

Assess website security and installing updated software to ensure that websites and client data remain secure.

Uphold a knowledge of website accessibility standards and legal requirements.

Develop a portfolio of corporate and individual clients and maintain long-term relationships.

Web Developer Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

1-2 years experience working as a web developer

Expert understanding of core web development principles and languages: HTML & CSS

Commercial experience working with clients

Strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals

Experience with WordPress or other CMS

Strong organisational skills

A proclivity towards leadership opportunities

Ability to time manage and problem solve in high pressure environments

Familiarity with industry standard systems and processes

Desirable:

Bachelor s degree and relevant Coursework in Website Design and Information Technology

Understanding of core UX principles for web design

Experience working with and optimising eCommerce websites and lead generation systems for higher conversions.

Experience working in a digital marketing agency
