About the team
Our growing and evolving cross-functional digital team spans front and back-end development, UX, service design, content production, social media, analytics and more. We are leading the development and implementation of Shelter s overall digital strategy and making sure best practice is applied to all online activities.
Our digital design team is looking for talented, collaborative people who are passionate about our cause to join us and campaign for an end to the UK’s housing crisis. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve
About the role
As a Service Designer, you ll be responsible for developing designs based on evidence of users needs and intended organisational outcomes. You ll be able to clearly communicate ideas and research findings and facilitate conversations to aid evidence-based decision making. You ll be involved of all stages of the design process, whilst maintaining sight of the end-to-end service.
Important aspects of this role include acting as a champion for human-centred design and ensuring design decisions consider our most vulnerable users. Alongside your product team, you will work with technical and business stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities. As part of Shelter s commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation, you will proactively learn about anti-racism and contribute to work in this space in collaboration with others in the design community of practice.

About you
You ll need to be comfortable consolidating complex information into easily understandable and actionable outputs, such as user journey maps and visualisations of ecosystems. You will have experience in helping teams to understand how to work in a strategic context.
You ll be confident in collaborating with researchers and representing users internally, and able to recommend user research methods, approaches and tools. You will have experience in using a variety of prototyping methods at different fidelities.
Last but not least, you ll have good communication skills to be able to listen to your team and take on feedback
