Senior Designer – Stamford Bridge, London

REPORTING TO: Creative Design Lead

DEPARTMENT: Marketing – Creative

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Mentor and manage a team of both designers and Creative Artworkers, ensuring they have all the technical advice and guidance to develop and create work to the best of their abilities.
• Work collaboratively with both the Creative Lead and Creative Operations Manager to refine process and bring to life the visual activation of the brand by developing templates and suggesting process tweaks within the creative studio.
• Enforce the CFC Masterbrand and subsequent Visual Identities for all areas of the business ensuring consistency across all channels and formats.
• Help the Creative Design Lead to develop a seasonal creative strategy and toolkit inspired by kit and themes that compliments and enhances the CFC Masterbrand.
• Work alongside the Creative Design Lead to ideate on projects.
• Oversee all Tier 2 & 3 projects directly, bring visual concepts to life through engaging layout, with a strong eye for typography and content hierarchy.
• Proficient in all Adobe programs with the ability to coach and develop the other designers’ abilities in this area.
• Translate stakeholder feedback and amends for other designers with a business-first mindset before then translating to the wider team.
• Support the Creative Design in providing accurate technical advice and solutions to the wider team as well as holding internal project crits and mentoring.
• Proactively monitor design concept quality, accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure all executions are consistent, conform to brand guidelines and are suitable for multi-specifications and size ratios, maintaining the asset list and guides for the design team.
• Present creative ideas to stakeholders both internal and external at all levels of the business.
• Multi-task and prioritise across multiple design projects in accordance with agreed production deadlines.
• Help to oversee and build relationships with the network of external production suppliers.
• Copywrite short-form headlines and call to actions, using commercial first language for use across designed assets, advertising and brand campaigns.

KEY SKILLS:
• Communication: Good presentation skills and the ability to communicate and present an idea clearly and concisely.
• Knowledge: Has a well-rounded knowledge of sport, business and design, with an active hunger to always stay on top of the latest trends in design and pop culture, so these can be actively translated into the teams work.
• Creativity: The ability to innovate and constantly evolve stylistic approaches, to ensure the design output is always industry-leading and ahead of the curve.
• Control: Strong attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and manage delivery expectations.
• Mentorship: The ability to coach and manage a diverse team of creative individuals, ensuring they are always challenged and motivated to create best-in-class work.
• Software: Strong knowledge of design process with advanced skills using all Adobe Creative Software, After Effects. Knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint and template creation.
• Interpersonal: Good interpersonal skills. Positive attitude. Enjoys working as part of a team as well as working independently. Good listening skills.
• Responsive: Pivoting seamlessly to accommodate the changing parameters natural to a EPL Football Club without letting the integrity or quality of creative work slip
• Brand: A solid understanding of brand development and creative strategy, including the expression of the brand across multiple channels.
• English Language: Excellent written and verbal English language to be able to proofread and provide quality assurance on a wide range of communication and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 years demonstrable experience in the creative industry either client-side or agency.
• A degree in graphic design or related subjects
• 5 years experience as a Senior Designer working across blue chip brands and on a broad range of high profile public facing projects.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating ideation, design and copywriting skills across a wide range of design and advertising campaigns, with a particular focus to commercial based assets.
•Expertise in latest design software (Adobe Creative Suite), and Microsoft office software with good working knowledge of After Effects or similar motion software.
