Are you a passionate, knowledge sharing PCB Designer / PCB Layout Engineer? Looking to join an established team that work on a range of telecoms satellites? Looking to learn / expand your knowledge in Radio Frequency (RF), high speed digital and mixed signal physical design – Then we’d like to speak to you!
A vacancy has arisen for a PCB Layout Engineer within the Communication Products Group to be based in either Stevenage or Portsmouth. We are currently expanding to meet increasing demand for more advanced technologies both on national programmes and for customers globally. No space experience is required!
The Communication Products group is responsible for the development of RF Equipment and Digital Processors for use in telecommunication Satellites. The RF equipments include beam-forming networks, clock and reference oscillators, frequency conversion products, and low noise and high power amplifiers. The processor functionality ranges from high capacity channelisers, supporting inter-satellite optical data links, to implementing cryptographic algorithms to protect the spacecraft.
In this rewarding role you will be developing some of the highest performing digital communication payload equipment available anywhere in the world, and be part of the rapidly expanding UK space sector. You will be joining a team of 10-15 and be part of a bigger department.

Main activities of the role
Layout Printed circuit boards from approved schematics.
Work within the framework of company standards, procedures, and processes and maintain design files for all work undertaken.
Manage your time in accordance with the overall product schedule.
Skills Required for the Job
Essential:
Extensive experience in the use of Mentor Graphics CAD tools for PCB Design
Desirable:
Experience of Mentor Graphics Expedition PCB layout including DxDesigner and CES
Knowledge of radio-frequency, high speed digital and mixed signal physical design
Experience with Multi-layer, with microvias, flexi-rigid, surface mount, through-hole, blind and buried vias
Familiarity with Autorouting tools
