You will work closely with our product, technology and propositions teams and involve subject matter experts to solve complex user problems that fit within the product vision and strategy.
Furthermore you will play a key role in helping us build a best-in class design function at Metro Bank, taking a user centric approach in everything we produce and advocate best practices across our agile processes to deliver outstanding value to our customers.
Depending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working.
So what would you be doing?…
• Driving the product design strategy across one or more of our customer facing channels.
•Working with product managers and designers to formulate ideas on how to improve products by actively gathering and understanding customer and stakeholder needs.
•Planning research strategies, arrange user research activities and align with our research lead.
•Taking user research findings and model user behaviour.
•Building great relationships with Data, Architecture, Product Technology and Marketing teams to lead a collaborative process from discovery to delivery, to shape and define the user experience of both new and existing features
•Formulating ideas on how to improve all aspects of usability including accessibility by enhancing user interface designs and navigation
•Translating product requirements into imaginative user focused design concepts

•Being responsible for delivering deeply thought out user centred digital solutions based on research and best practice.
You need to be this kind of person
• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment
• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow
• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do
And… we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the courage to call out any concerns.
We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things…
• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
•You must be able to understand the big picture and integrate company goals into design solutions.
•You should have previous experience designing digital products for Web and native apps to best practice standards
•Naturally you will have an understanding of Web Browser and Mobile Device capabilities and restrictions.
• You should have experience working closely with a development team with understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology.
•Ideally you will have experience with design heuristics and techniques of user-centered design.
•You will have an understanding of analytics and how they inform future product enhancements.
•You must have experience designing using Sketch / Figma and building clickable prototypes (using figma or other prototyping tools) to conduct user testing
Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that normal office hours aren t always doable, and while we can t accommodate every flexible working request, we are happy to be asked. So, if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren t sure if you are 100% there yet why not give it a whirl?
Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates
