Description

Data Visualisation Designer – Commodities

In this role you are a designer with a focus on data visualisation and information design.

You are comfortable with online chart building tools such Flourish and Rawgraphs.io, and you are an expert of Adobe CC.

You will collaborate with content editors to create compelling ways of presenting wealth of data through charts, maps and infographics. It is your role to make the information easier to understand, through clarity and visual competence. You will be required to work on several projects per day. Time management and a sense of urgency are just as critical as a keen eye for design, data and software skills.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively collaborate with content editors to shape complex information into dynamic visual storytelling pieces
• Use technology, coding, and online design tools to design and produce compelling data visualisations, infographics and maps (interactive and print)
• Manage multiple projects per day and prioritise various deadlines and editorial needs
• Meet all relevant delivery deadlines

Profile

Data Visualisation Designer – Commodities

What We’re Looking For:

• You have a combination of technical knowledge and visual design skills to create compelling data visualisations
• You are an Adobe Creative Cloud expert
• You are an expert in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and R/Python and other languages
• You are an expert at D3, Tableau, Power BI, Flourish or others
• You are proficient in all industry-standard tools for data visualisation
• You are comfortable manipulating data in Excel
• You are familiar with databases (e.g., MySQL or others), dimensional data and data lakes
• You have created maps using GIS data

Attributes:

• You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as data visualisation, graphic design or journalism
• You keep a clear head in a fast-moving newsroom atmosphere

• You have experience working with content management systems
• You have the self-confidence to make decisions quickly
• You seek opportunities to learn new skills and ways of visualising content
• You are personable and able to communicate openly with a variety of people with different needs.

Job Offer

A basic salary of up to £65,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits and hybrid working
